Municipal Historians of Monroe County, NY
By law, every municipality in New York State is required to have a Historian. It is a well known fact that the Historians are paid little or no wages. Some have even been known to pay their postal expenses out of their own pocket.
The size of the Historians' collections vary greatly. You will also find that not every Historian is interested in genealogical research. As a matter of fact, the Monroe County Historian will not help anyone except Monroe County residents.
