WEBSTER BASKET COMPANY
The Webster Basket Company is one of the most important industrial enterprises in this state. When the Kittleberger Brothers established basket making in Webster back in 1880, doing their own work, few realized into what an immense business it would develop, but as the canning and evaporating industry grew it created a demand which speedily spread over the entire country for fruit baskets and crates. Though twice burned out the firm with great energy rebuilt and continued to extend their business until now they employ seventy-five hands, and turn out over two million berry baskets, one million peach baskets and some two million miscellaneous kinds, such as market baskets, etc. Their trade covers the entire United States. From beginning in a small room, 20 x 30 feet in dimensions, they now cover two acres, with a storehouse 170 x 50 feet and a two-story, factory 40 x 70. Mr. Kittleberger is an energetic and most capable manufacturer and business man and has earned his great success.
