Rochester Steam Carriage

Henry E. De Loura formed the Rochester Gasoline Carriage Motor Company early in 1901. He had previously produced an engine which he advertised as "non-vibrating." He sold the company out before the end of the year as he was in Ottumwa, Iowa in Nov. 1901 looking for investors to build an automobile factory there.

Frank P. Crouch bought the company from Mr. De Loura and he changed the name to Rochester Carriage Motor Company. He produced both gasoline and steam vehicles. This advertisement is for the steam vehicle with a 6 h.p. engine. Another model with two seats and a slightly larger boiler sold for $700. In 1902 & 1903 the company was at 55 South Avenue. Mr. Crouch made autos only until 1903. In the 1904 Rochester City Directory, he is selling real estate.
