Coat Making

When so ordered we make hides into coats for men or women, furnishing first-class linings and fittings for $12.50. A good sized, prime hide. measuring when finished 37 to 40 feet, will make a coat for a man of average size—say 5 feet 10 inches in height, with 42 to 44 breast measure. You will see that by putting the two items (tanning and making) together, the most we can charge for cow or horse hide coat complete, made from one hide, natural color, is $20.00, with regular linings. It needs a larger hide for coat than for robe. It cannot be made to wear over overcoat unless the hide is extra large or the coat measures are small. Of course, we make the larger number of coats for men, but we are making lots of them for women also, out of cow hides, calf skins and horse hides. Some of them are cut box style, very much like a man's coat, but we can cut them in any style for which material is adapted. Measures same.

Our Black and Brown Frisian Coats

These Coats are made from the choicest thick-furred, natural Black and Brown domestic Calf Skins, that can be obtained anywhere for money. Our long experience and acquaintance with sources of supply, has taught us where the best can be obtained, and we keep standing orders for them. When left to us we make trimmings (collars and cuffs) same general color as Coat. When beaver or other fine trimmings are put on these Coats, they are then the finest things in Coats, fur outside, that we turn out. You can get plenty of lower-priced Coats, made from so-called "Russian Buffalo Calf" but you can get none that will prove so cheap in the end.

The Body lining is Black Italian Cloth with wadding and cloth backing, closely quilted together with silk. This plan prevents the wadding from rubbing off and rolling down, and also adds greatly to the strength and wearing qualities.

The sleeves are lined with the best lusterine or "iron cloth," loops of heavy mohair braid, horn buttons and chain hanger. The outside pockets of these Coats are of Chamois Skin. Price, Black, $87.00, Seal Brown, $82.00, plain.

Our Galloway Coat

This Coat is made of same stock as robes of same name, but usually shorter haired. We select our finest haired skins for special or mail-order Coats. It is always a glossy black from Stock-yard or Packer Hides, which are the very cream of Black Hides, natural color, and has the same workmanship as the Frisian. An extra good black serge for body lining, silk-quilted to four-pound wadding, fine quilted facing in front, extra heavy sleeve linings, heavy mohair braid loops, large herculoid buttons, or ebony olives as you may choose, buff plush pockets, chain hanger, and heavy worsted wind excluders in sleeves. It is strong, warm, durable, fine looking; in fact, there is probably no Coat offered anywhere that gives so much value and satisfaction for the price. It is an all-around common sense garment. Price, $68.00. It should not be confounded with pieced, dyed, and otherwise low-grade goods of other makes.

There are lots of misleading terms used by makers and dealers in Fur Coats, such as "Galloway Calf," "Russian Buffalo Calf," "Siberian Dog," "Genuine Imported Galloway Coats," "Black Marten," "Galloway Kip," "South American Beaver," "Australian Beaver," "Siberian Bear," "Australian Calf." Misnomers and imitations are also numerous among the smaller furs. If interested, ask us. We call things by their right names.

Our Black Dog Skin Coat

Made from thick-furred Newschwang Dog Skins; lustrous fast black blend, done in our own factory. Pelt free of dye. Same lining and fitting as the Galloway. Price, $46.00. This Coat may be depended upon as the best of its kind. Not a high-priced Coat, but good value, and always satisfactory.
