Walter Vond - Historical Marker

Walter Vond, Parma

HISTORIC SITE
Walter Vond was the son of Parma's
first African American family.
As a conductor on the underground
railroad, Walter assisted fugitive slaves
from the south to their freedom in
Canada in the 1850s. He would take
them in his boat from the lakeshore to
ships bound for Canada.

Located at the north end of North Ave, Hilton, on the shore of Lake Ontario
