Notes Capt. Maccio began his career in the U.S. Air Force in 1962. Four months ago he went to Guam. He was a navigator on a B52 Stratofortress.
Mr. & Mrs. Anthony Maccio, parents, were notified that he is missing and presumed dead. An extensive search was undertaken in the area and no survivors were found. Capt. Maccio was a 1956 graduate of Aquinas High School and a 1961 graduate of St. John Fisher College. He entered the service after working for a year as a civilian in personnel for the Air Force, Rome, New York. Besides his parents he is survived by widow Zoe and two sons Stephen and Jay and two brothers Michael and Chester of Bloomfield Hills, Mich.

Notes Sgt. Martin had served in Korea and Germany and for years before going to Vietnam he was stationed, at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. He was 17 years old when he enlisted in the Army.
Sgt. Martin first met his wife, when he was stationed in California and she was a college student. They have four children. The soldier's widow and children have been living in Compton, Calif., since he went overseas. Beisdes his parents, he is survived by a brother Charles E. and three sisters, Mrs. Bertha Walters, Mrs. Sanda Adams, and Miss Toni Martin, all of Rochester.

Notes Capt. Mattaro was a graduate from St. John's Military Academy, Washington and from Virginia Military Institute with honors. He earned an Army commission as second lieutenant; went to Vietnam and in four weeks was promoted to first lieutenant. On May 6 he was promoted to captain. His greatest wish was to be the youngest General in modern Army history. Captain Mattaro never got word of his promotion.
Capt. Mattaro attended School #52 before his family moved to the Washington area. The parents now live in Langley Park, Maryland. Because many of his relatives and friends live in Rochester, services for Capt. Mattaro were held May 18 in St. Francis Xavier Church. One of his brothers Joseph lives 211 Woodside Place, Irondequoit.

Notes Cpl. McFarland enlisted a year ago. He was able to continue his education but about seven months ago the Marines took him out of school in Virginia and trained him for Vietnam. Cpl. McFarland served six months in Vietnam. Cpl. McFarland served six months in Vietnam with the 4 Marine Regt.
Cpl. McFarland was born and lived all his life in Orlando, Florida but planned to join his mother and two older brothers in Rochester when he came out of the Marines in the summer of 1968. A brother Tommie Lewis McFarland, 23 who was in the Army, was killed in action in Vietnam in 1966. Besides his mother, he is survived by two older brothers, Carldan and Curtis of Rochester, and a sister Glenda E. Bodiford also of Rochester. His step-father, Hantson McFarland and three brothers, William Floyd and James are still living in Florida. His father, James Smith, is also living in Orlando, Florida. He also has three other sisters in Florida, Ida, Bobby Jane and Shirley.

Notes Lt. Murphy entered the Navy's Officers Candidate School at Newport, R. I. in January 1959. He was commissioned an ensign in May 1959. In 1962 he was enrolled in the U.S. Naval Post Graduate School in Monterey, Calif. Lt. Murphy's first duty was in Hawaii with Barrier Squadron Pacific. There, he qualified as a naval flight officer in the Early Warning Aircraft system in April 1960. He then enrolled in the U.S. Naval Post Graduate School. Where he completed a year of postgraduate work in engineering science. He then reported to the Naval Plant Office at Hamilton Standard in Windsor Lock, Conn. as bureau of weapons representative. In October 1965 he was sent to Norfolk where he was responsible for planning and implementing missions for the squadron of Early Warning aircraft to which he was attached.
Lt. Murphy was a graduate of Irondequoit High School in 1953. The Murphys were married for eight years. He is also survived by two sons Kevin and Michael; his mother Mrs. Howard T. Murphy; two brothers Thomas of Detroit and John Murphy of Binghamton, N.Y.

Notes PFC Niedermeier had been in Vietnam only about a month when he was wounded 5/5/67 by shrapnel wounds. He was taken to the hospital ship Repose, where he died on 5/27/67.
PFC Niedermeier hoped to study veterinary medicine in college after his Marine Corps enlistment was up. His mother, Mrs. Dorothy Niedermeier, lives in Houston, Tex. A brother, Gerald lives in Honeoye, and another brother Richard lives in Rochester. A graduate of Madison High School, PFC Niedermeier worked at Taylor Instrument Co., then became a groom at Finger Lakes Race Track, in Canandaigua, N.Y. PFC Niedermeier was 20 May 1, just four days before he was injured.

Notes PFC O'Grady was on Army Maneuvers. It was expected that his outfit would be sent to Vietnam. Veteran was killed in training accident, while on night maneuvers, near Yakima, Washington. He was killed when an Army truck in which he was riding rolled over a 25 foot embankment. His training program had been stepped up and they anticipated being sent to Vietnam.
PFC O'Grady planned to come home in June 1966 for two week furlough, before embarking for the war zone. Besides his parents, he leaves a brother Thomas E., sister Mrs. Robert Winch.

Notes Pvt. Osborn enlisted at the age of 17, and had to obtain parental consent. His first choice for overseas duty was Germany. He received his training at Fort Dix, New Jersey.
Pvt. Osborn died while in service. He disappeared after boarding a plane Aug. 17, from Rochester by way of Trenton, N.J. for his station at Fort Dix, following a visit with his faily. The family were notified on Aug. 22, that his body had been found in the Hudson River, near a railroad pier off the Jersey shore. The cause of death was asphyxiation due to drowning. Circumstances remain undetermined, pending investigation. Besides his parents, he is survived by two brothers, Larry and Jay.

Notes Pvt. Paduchowski had been in Vietnam for four months, after being drafted in spring of 1967. He was killed Feb. 6, 1968 as he helped his wounded buddies to safety in a Viet Cong ambush, from four or five positions. The companies were pinned down and quite a few men were killed and wounded. The commander told Pvt. Paduchowski's parents in the lettter that he was a wonderful person and was the life of the platoon.
Pvt. Paduchowski was engaged to marry Patricia Peo, of 56 Durnam Street, but the couple had set no wedding date. Besides his parents, he is survived by one brother James, 22.

WO Papke was considering a career in photography before he joined the Army in October 1966. While a student at East High School he worked with the school's closed-circuit television system, expanding that interest which in the WROC sponsored Explorer Scouts Unit. Following graduation from East in June 1965, he became a photographer in the phototechnology division at Kodak Park. Surviving besides his parents is a sister, Pamela.

Pvt. Parnell died when the car skidded against an underpass as he and a companion were returning to Marine Corps base at Quantico, Va. Pvt. Parnell was a member of the Maplewood YMCA and Boy Scouts troops 90 and 155. He was the only child of Mrs. Gertrude May Parnell.

An honor student and a Regents Scholarship winner, he enrolled in MCC in a Liberal Arts program. He dropped out briefly and became eligible for the draft. He was back in school when he was called in May 1968. Besides his parents, he is survived by two sisters, Cassandra and Holly, a brother Dmitri, now serving with the Army in Germany.

Spec. 5 Reisinger was home on leave from duty in West Germany and was awaiting ressignment to duty. He volunteered for Vietnam. Accident occured about a half mile from his home. His stationwagon skidded around a curve and into a car. Stationwagon burst into flame when a two gallon can exploded. besides his parents, he is survived by five sisters, Linda, Lee, Nan, Mary and Kim; three brothers Richard, Gary and Jon.

Notes Sgt. Roberts was a World War II veteran. At various times he was stationed in Japan, France, Korea, Ft. Hood, Texas, Ft. Benning, Ga. He was six months from retirement. A Green Beret, Sgt. Roberts was stationed at Chou Doc near the Cambodian border. He was assigned to aid villagers in farming, education and medical rehabilitation. He received the Bronze Star following his first Vietnam tour in 1968.
Besides his parents and wife he leaves two children Sharon 9 and Tim 13.
