Pioneer Society of Rochester and Western N. Y.

At the Blossom Hotel in Rochester on Thursday, the 31st day of September, 1847 was a meeting that founded the Pioneer Society of Rochester. At this meeting and each of the yearly meetings thereafter, they talked about their coming to early Rochester. At first it was an organization of just men but by 1854 it had also included women who were early settlers. By 1864 the organization's name had been changed to the Pioneer Society of Western New York but almost all the members were residents of Monroe County.

When the organization was originally formed, a member had to come to this area before 1818. That was changed a couple of times until a member had to have resided in the area before 1825. By 1870 there were few members left and the organization soon faded into history.

Lists of members also included the dates when the member came to this area and occasionally when and where they were born. This combined list of members is taken from:
